This project is painted on large sheets cardboard which are attached to a wooden frame and supported by "L" shaped brackets. Neither the door nor any of the windows open, they are just for appearance. The top of the castle wall is cut out to give it a greater 3 dimensional appearance. After cutting, the board was painted the off grey color of the bricks. The mortar (dark grey paint) was applied with small fan shaped brushed which allow for toning. One of the most impressive features is the added cracks and flaws which have been painted into the bricks. The doors and windows were next painted and simply left a solid color. The last feature added was the bushes. The most striking part of the bushes is that they are painted in a pointelistic style to give them greater realism. Note also the branches of the bushes also show. This project was painted while the board lay flat on the ground.
