This is one of the most creative project ever submitted for the CAVE's Renaissance Faire. The student used several broken cardcoard boxes (of the type used to pack papers and supplies. These boxes were cut apart and flattened and staples to VERY thin wooded strips which were about 1 inch wide. Then swimming pool log floats in a variety of colors were obtained. These foam like floats were cut in half lengthwise and then stained with a dark brown wood stain. Because the foam was open, the floats absorbed a great deal of the stain and therefore did not turn very dark. The floats, now darkened to look like logs were glued, wired, and tied to the cardboard. Note that a "log" frame was placed around the door for a more authentic appearance. Moss, obtained from a craft store was hotglued between some of the logs to create an aged and rustic appearance. When complete, the building looked very much like a woodland log cabin of the type used by peasants. The door is a piece of burlap cloth simply tacked to the cardboard. The white rope sign, placed next to the door on the right hand side is to display the trade of the individual who lived in the house.
