Creating
Source Cards
Each time a writer selects a source to be included in a research paper,
the bibliographic information should be recorded on a note (index) card.
Source cards are useful because they
- provide greater ease when later organizing and typing a "works
cited" page,
- and allow the writer to quickly relocate sources for more information.
Each card should contain the source's
- type,
- number,
- complete citation,
- and location or writer's comments

2. Source Number
- Number the cards according to author name or title if no author
is given.
- Because this is a working bibliography, sources will be added and
deleted; therefore, this number should be recorded in pencil.
