A Dickens Christmas, 2007

Sit back and take a break from the world of hustle and bustle and think back to

when Christmas was not commercialized and the pace was slow.

The monks of Old Michael's Church seem in fine voice singing carols to the guests who have come to the Christmas

bazaar. Mr. Miller seems to have taken time from his work to bring his wife to the bazaar. I bet she is carrying

her famous jams in that basket in her lap.

Old man Fezziwig is coming into town with a wagon of presents. Wonder who are going to receive those goodies??

Cheapside is realy getting into the season. The chestnut vendor has nuts roasting by an open fire.

And I can see Bert and Hank are doing their own kind of roasting by a fire too!

I see Thomas is "sparking" Molly on the rockslide next to the old Grapes Inn while Mr. Brown is inspecting a new shipment

of fine wines. Hope he gets them to his shop up on the hill so everyone can purchase them for Christmas dinner.

The Holiday Coach look to be arriving at the Falstaff Inn. Bet those folks will be glad to get to their rooms and wash

off the dust from the trip. On the right, Master James is offering a bouquet of flowers to Gwen. She is off to spend

Christmas with her mother in Greenwich by the next coach.

Ale delivery at the Grapes Inn

If you want the freshest flowers, the best in town can be purchased from Lisa.

You can always find her cart stationed by the Loin's Head fountain by 8:00 a.m.

While some folks avail themselves of the fine morning and catch up on the latest in the Times,

I can see one "gentleman" is getting an early start on "samples" of new wines.

It seems Lady Marian is feeling better and Sir Howard is escorting her on a shopping trip from the manor house.

The Curiosity Shoppe is supposed to have some unique treasures from the Orient that came in on the Emily Louise yesterday.

Even with the Christmas season in full swing, some follks decided to take in the view of the sky at the Old Observatory.

This is a season for comets according to the Times.

The Sommersets leaving the Coffeehouse after dinner.

Looks like all the residents of Bedford Square are home this evening. And a good thing too!

The Lityles are still delivering coal for the hearths and with the chilly weather no one wants to miss thier chance to stock up.

As evening falls, H.M.S. Brittania is steaming for port. Her manifest says she is bringing new teas from India on this trip.

With Parliament still holding late sessions the hack driver is heading back to Parliament Square for another fare.

Wonder who he just dropped off at Buckingham Palace? That does seem like an odd place to leave a fare.

Book delivery to the bookstore and Mr. Bendham greeting his niece.

The lights inside Traitor's Gate are lit tonight. That certainly means someone will not be having a happy holiday season.

Still, at least one couple seems to be enjoying the evening sitting outside the Horse and Hounds.

Cedric is still looking out for Harold the raven out on the Towen Green. Harold hs been trying to fly off recently and that will just

never due. Legend has it that if the ravens leave the Tower then England will fall.

Cedric better keep a watchful eye on Harold and the other ravens in residence. The Royal Gardeners have certainly done a fine job

of maintaining the flower beds this time of year. Parliament Square looks beautiful this season.

Across the street the Museum is open late this week. They have a new mummy just in from Egypt on display.

Tower Gardens

This is my favorite view of London.

I wonder if this is how Peter Pan and Tink saw London as they first flew to the Darling's house?

Maybe this scene best fits the season. The great Abbey, open for evening service, choirboys out front singing carols

of the season and Buckingham Palace, with Victoria in residence, lit invitingly for the Holidays.

May the Joy of the season be yours.
